New study on an old problem of the nature reserve

Lachen

Daniel Küry and Alexander Freude were commissioned by the Swiss Association Pro Petite Camargue Alsacienne to investigate the plants and animals in the ‘Lachen’, an oxbow lake of the Rhine. The Laken is a long-standing problem in the nature reserve, as waste water enters the lake during heavy rainfall events. Based on the new study, strategies will be developed in cooperation with the responsible municipalities to prevent such problems in the future. The report published in 2024 can be downloaded here in French or German.
